Primary and secondary education within the United States can be a tough experience for many students. Learning to navigate hormonal changes, social structures, and the education system itself can be stressful. Beyond this, personal experiences and issues can add more for a student to worry about. When a student comes to terms with their gender identity within these educational systems, their whole world can be turned upside down. The importance of social and structural acceptance and support of trans students is paramount to their success and wellbeing. Many trans students can be and are more successful if they have these support systems around them. This presentation will discuss the support one student received with teachers they received the support from while in school.
